About us

Established in 2000, The Bowie Gallery is based in Hay on Wye next to the original Buttermarket right in the centre of town.

 

There are car parks very nearby and we are within easy driving distance of the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park and Offa’s Dyke path, which offers great walking if you fancy making a weekend of it! Hay on Wye also has plenty of B&B’s and some great gastro pubs!

 

We strive to show the very best in contemporary fine crafts, from ceramics to sculpture and jewellery to prints.

 

Our ethos is to support British artists and craftspeople working in individual studios across the UK and we search far and wide to find you new, innovative and beautifully made work by skilled designer makers.

 

We are always interested in looking at new and up and coming makers as well as showing established collectable names to add to your collection. We want to encourage people to look at contemporary fine craft as an everyday part of their lives – if the mug you drink your tea out of has an aesthetic quality then it really CAN make your tea taste better and get your day off to a good start!

We are happy to work with artists and makers to commission the perfect piece of artwork for your home. We can source specific pieces and work directly with makers and jewellers to find you exactly what you want. Bailey is our gallery dog – she’s really friendly and loves saying hello to visitors in the gallery – she’s always up for a tummy tickle and usually has something to say in our blog!
